Mid 19th C. Antique textile, Tibetan Monastery Nambu Tigma Runner. An older monastery runner. Faded from years of use. The yellow portion has a diagonal weave which makes this likely over 150 years old. The tigma uses two colors, very interesting piece aesthetically.

Nambu is the tibetan word for this woven wool style and the tigma for the tie and dye process that creates these crosses. Crosses in Tibetan Buddhism are similar to the swastika. It signifies good luck and well being.
