19th- early 20th C.Silver plated Tibetan Antique Tea Cups.
Traditional Tibetan Tea Cup. Silver and Burlwood Teacup. A simple, classic Tibetan teacup, partially or fully lined with silver both on the inside and at the base. (see pic) This is one of the few possessions that a Tibetan would always travel with. These wooden cups once were common to find because of Tibetans migratory life style. Wooden Tea cups were from a time when daily utensils were made by hand. Today you will be very hard pressed to find a wooden tea cup lined partially or fully with silver still in use, even nomad tents usually use ceramic. Most tea cups made their way to the market, being sold to support a pilgrimage. Though I cannot identify the wood so well, burlwood is considered the common wood of these cups.
